Drakken’s unparalleled ability to tackle complex projects in unique and challenging conditions is being showcased again, supporting a geothermal drilling operation in northern Europe. Drakken welcomes the opportunity to demonstrate versatility in this departure from oil and gas applications. Drakken is involved in the design and supply of the pump package to support the client’s patented drilling technology.
Drakken is responsible for the design and fabrication of the main components within the pump kit. Within our proven Power to Go™ modules, are the power distribution, control system, and centrifuge package. Drakken technicians are following our equipment to the site to manage the electrical installation of the entire system, no easy task when it involves integrating it into a fully operational drill rig.
As part of the project, Drakken efficiently utilized it's proven supply chain in the Middle East, Canada, UK and Europe to deliver for its Client. With a team focused on efficient supply chain management, the MCC; control panel and centrifuge were procured and manufactured in various locations across Europe.

Fabricating the equipment within the UK and Finland avoids the import duties that would be paid on equipment from North America or lower cost regions. It’s also great to be able to support the local economy of the project.”
Within a very ambitious timeline, Drakken has been able to tackle project challenges efficiently. Installation and commissioning in Helsinki are underway, and project completion is expected in October 2016. Following successful commissioning and testing, the pump package is planned to operate in Helsinki until the conclusion of the wells, and remobilized for future projects.
