Drakken is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an integrated engineering, fabrication and testing contract by a major central Asian oil producer. The contract is part of an enhanced oil recovery program based on sea water injection. The program development follows a successful pilot project completed by Drakken in 2014. Currently in the execution phase, the project will be installed on an existing production platform about 35 km off the Turkmenistan shore in the eastern section of the Caspian Sea. The project is expected to run through to Q1 of 2017.
The Drakken team will be controlling the project from both the Canadian and UAE groups. The project scope includes all aspects of modular design and manufacture for the power, control and operation of the injection systems. Drakken’s scope also includes the instrumentation and automation systems for the water injection system.
“This project is a fantastic opportunity for us provide one of our custom Command to Go Modules in a challenging offshore environment. It is also a great chance to further demonstrate Drakken’s capabilities for offshore ventures where our project teams have proven success.” said Ben Watts, CEO for Drakken. Kyle Gette, Project Manager, continued, “This will give us further opportunity to showcase our unique ability to execute quality, fast track projects using collaboration between our UAE and Canadian offices. We were also able to leverage the weak Canadian dollar to provide solutions with substantial cost savings for our Client.”
Drakken' scope of supply on the project includes engineering, procurement and fabrication of the following facility systems:
- Automation system
- Large water injection VFDs
- Process instrumentation
- Electrical power distribution
- Field construction material
In addition, Drakken will supply the packaged Command to Go module (integrated facility control room). Drakken will also provide onsite construction and commissioning supervision as well as programming support.
About the Field
The owner holds its principle asset, The Cheleken Contract Area, offshore in the eastern section of the Caspian Sea. The Cheleken Contract Area comprises of two production oilfields, Dzheitune and Dzhygalybeg, both were discovered in the 1960’s and 70s. The permanent water injection project has been initiated to enhance oil production on existing offshore platforms. Since 2000 the owner has increased production by a factor of 10 and continues to evaluate new technologies, as with this project, to further enhance oil production in the area.
We are obsessed with finding a better way for the world to execute projects.
We challenge the status quo, collaboration is in our DNA and we hire, develop and retain the best people. We have an integrated global footprint, complimented by world class systems, to serve our clients.
Drakken focuses on turnkey project execution to deliver; project management, engineering, commissioning, instrumentation, communications, power generation and distribution systems, and industrial automation services to the worlds leading energy producers.
