Dubai, UAE

Drakken is pleased to announce a new contract to deploy its skilled electrical and instrumentation technicians to complete the field installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning on the Zubair expansion program in Iraq.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of this program, and the opportunity to be involved with a facility of this size,” said Marcel Bruyere, Vice President of Construction. A multi-disciplined team will be mobilized to site with an initial focus to complete E&I construction so that we can achieve critical milestones.

Due to the fast-track nature of this project, our engineering team will be working together with construction to verify the functionality of systems with static and dynamic testing. “We are working on some challenging field work, and have been able to successfully integrate both our construction team and our engineering team for seamless, safe work,” said Ben Watts, CEO of Drakken.

About the field:

The Zubair Super Giant, one of the world’s largest oil fields, is located just West of Basra in South Iraq and is designed to produce 400,000 bbl/day. By 2020, under the field’s expansion program, production is expected to reach a plateau level of 850 thousand barrels of oil per day.  As part of this expansion, the construction of three separate production facilities; Hammar, Rafidiya, and Zubair is underway to increase the production capacity of the existing degassing stations to which they are tied.  Between these establishments will consist of six process trains capable of 50,000 BOPD each, 80 MW of power generation, Water Injection, crude oil exporting, gas compression and supporting utility infrastructure.
