Eni was awarded the license for the development of the Zubair super giant field in Iraq, The license has been awarded to an Eni-led consortium (with Eni as Operator), consisting of the US Occidental Petroleum Corporation and Korea Gaz Corporation. The Zubair field is one of the largest fields in Iraq and currently produces 195,000 barrels of oil per day. By 2020, through the field's expansion plan, production is expected to reach a plateau level of 850,000 barrels of oil per day. The expansion plan includes the drilling of more than 200 wells, the construction of treatment facilities and the required collection network, as well as the refurbishment of the existing plants.
In July of 2016, Drakken was awarded the contract to implement a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and data infrastructure system at three of the fields oil production facilities. The scope of work included the engineering, procurement, and construction associated with the installation of a stand-alone fit-for purpose telecommunications infrastructure system. The project’s aim was to provide access to the facility voice and data network throughout the plant, as well as access to Eni’s Southern Iraq and global data network.
The project team successfully completed construction and commissioning activities in November 2016, including management of local labour forces, completion of quality assurance documentation, and client walk-downs.
The Drakken Project team included project management in UAE and Engineering from Canada, Pakistan and the UAE.
