Drakken is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a major engineering contract by a major multinational oil producer in southern Iraq.  The contract, currently underway, is destined for installation near Basra, Iraq.  The project is expected to run through Q2 of 2013.

Drakken was awarded the initial electrical engineering contract, designed to progress the electrical engineering to the procurement phase to allow critical major equipment orders to be placed. Drakken’s depth of experience with fast track project engineering cycles allowed the client to accelerate the key engineering deliverables and place major equipment orders in a fraction of the time typically required for an EPC contract.  The Drakken team, based in Dubai UAE, is completing the contract with support from Drakkens offices in Calgary and Pakistan.

This contract award demonstrates our clients commitment on a major project in one of the worlds most challenging environments and further demonstrates our proven ability to integrate complex projects within a fast track early production framework,” said Ryan Arsenault, Director for Drakken.  Project Manager Warren Boyle commented: “Our clients require acceleration of the key engineering components for these projects in order to meet the aggressive schedule targets in Iraq and throughout the region, and we are excited to be given another opportunity to showcase our capabilities.”

The project includes power system modeling for 40mW of generation at 13kV, Site layout development, 3D lighting modeling and calculations, Substation development and layouts, key single line development and other associated FEED deliverables.

Mr. Boyle, an engineer registered with APEGGA, and PMP certified project manager, has managed major projects domestically and abroad with successful project experience in Canada, Iraq, USA, Turkmenistan, Thailand and Mexico.
